Cogitive Distortions are lies our brain tells us in an effort to control and comfort our self-esteem. Talking about them and recgnizing them is the first step. The DBT skill with the stop sign is the next. When you recognize these and stop, then reframe and "collect evidence" you often find ample evidence in reality to set you straight.
